In 2017 the USGA partnered with “Golf Genius Tournament Software” to deliver cutting-edge golf-event planning & management to all USGA member facilities. As a USGA member facility we have access to the “club” version of the software. While the club-version of golf genius is restricted, it is still a robust improvement over all competitors.
The two major utilities for The Hideaway’s membership are in the following areas...
- League sign-up process
- Event result posting
Let’s take a look…
Weekly League Sign-ups
First off, it’s important to note that calling or stopping by the golf shop is always an option when trying to add your name to either the WGA or the MGA on a weekly basis, or any special event for that matter. Results are always available in the golf shop as well. Nothing has changed for those of you without internet access.
For those of you that do receive emails, you can now enjoy the convenience, safety and control of on-line weekly sign-ups. Here is how it works…
After a league member has provided the golf shop a valid email address they will start receiving a weekly round invite by email one week prior to the event. Here is what a typical invite looks like…
Signing-up is as easy as it looks. If you would like to play in the event simply click the playing button, if you choose not to play click “not playing”. Protip: do not delete the invite until the event has been played because if something comes up and you are no longer available for an event you signed up for, you can go back into the original email and click “not playing” and you will be removed automatically. The same goes for an event that you originally thought you would not be able to play in, if you become available you can add your name by going back into the email and clicking the “playing” button.
Viewing Tee-Times/Pairings & Results
Another strength of Golf Genius is the way it archives and displays past event results. As soon as the pairings for a League or Event round have been released, they are available for you to view on the League/Event “portal”. The easiest way to locate the portal is to log into the Hideaway website at www.thehideawaygolf.com...
Once logged in, navigate to the “Golf” section where you will find the “Golf Event Results & Tee Times” link . Here is what to look for…
From here you select the “category” of the event you are interested in…
And then the specific League/Event you would like to view…
Once the event is selected you will arrive at that event’s “portal”. This is where you can view the event’s tee sheets or results for current or past rounds. This is what a typical portal looks like…
Use the header at the top of the page to find the information you are looking for. One thing to note is that since the portal acts as a historical archive for the league/event, you will need to select the specific round to view from a drop down menu when looking at tee sheets or results. The portal defaults to the most recent round but often you will need to view a past round, or in rare cases, a separate round occuring on the same day as another round. An example of this would be a “Championship match-play round” occuring on the same day as a “non-championship round” (set up for players no longer in the championship hunt). In this case you will need to select the appropriate round from the drop down menu. Here is what it looks like…
It’s as simple as that. A few clicks and all your results and pairings are available to you as soon as they are published by the golf shop. If you have any trouble locating or viewing the results please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or by calling the golf staff at 239-275-5581 x101. And remember, you may always stop by the golf shop to view results or tee times, so nothing has changed for those accustomed to that method.
